Limoncello

Recipe from Italy

 
Ingredients:
4 medium sized freshly picked lemons (better if green)
1/2 litre of pure alcohol
400 grams white sugar
1/2 litre plain water
 
Peel lemons, removing only the yellow/green portion of the rind.
Then place the rind in a glass container with the alcohol.
Rest for 48 hours.
 
Heat the water to a boil.
Add sugar and stir until melted.
Allow to cool.
Remove rind from alcohol.
Mix alcohol with sweetened water.
Bottle and keep in freezer.
Serve ice cold Limoncello in iced glasses.
